You must usually prepare the fabric before using fabric paint. To keep the painting intact, this is an essential step. Pre-washing the fabric is a must in every situation. Pre-washing aids in removing chemicals and starches that could be left in the cloth from manufacture and transportation.

The use of any form of fabric softener during pre-washing should be avoided because they reduce the cloth’s capacity to absorb. You should iron the fabric after it has been cleaned and dried. It will be challenging to paint your designs over wrinkles. Give yourself a tidy workspace.

Make sure to place a barrier between the various layers of fabric before painting. Use a barrier between the two layers of the fabric, such as a t-shirt, if it has a front and back, to prevent the paint from soaking through.

Also remember that some paints and dyes prefer wet materials, so you will need to work on damp surfaces.
