There are a few distinct possibilities available, most of which are made with an acrylic foundation, for what kind of paint adheres to the glass. 

  • Acrylic enamel paints develop a strong bond with many different surfaces, including glass, and create a protective hard shell to help keep the color in place.
  • Glass paint made entirely of acrylics is called acrylic glass paint, nevertheless, it differs from ordinary acrylics. Look for acrylics that are designed especially for use on glass, as these feature chemical additives that make it possible for the acrylic base to adhere to non-porous surfaces.
  • Paint that is solvent-based, also known as oil-based paint, has a higher concentration of organic compounds than standard water-based paints, which makes it more effective at adhering to the glass.
  • If you’re looking for a simple material to work with, and especially if you’re glass painting with youngsters, markers and pens are a great choice. Choose from a choice of colored pens and markers with different tip sizes instead of having to clean brushes when you’re through.
