Cleaning a pot completely before sealing and decorating it is a must before using it. Clean the surface with a wire brush and thoroughly remove any dirt and salt residue. After the flower pot has been thoroughly cleaned of dirt and debris, it should be submerged for 24 hours in a solution of 9 parts water to 1 part bleach to eliminate any remaining bacteria. The pot should be fully rinsed with clean water after soaking and then given time to completely dry.

Apply two coatings of Clay Pot Sealer to the flower pot interior and exterior to seal it. Before putting on the second coat, let the first coat completely dry.

The sealed clay pot can be painted once it has dried. Use outdoor or multi-surface paint on flower pots that will be used outside. Use any high-quality acrylic paints to decorate flower pots that will be kept indoors.
