SIMSUM ARTS

The use of vivid colours like white, blue, yellow, and red is the most intriguing aspect of Gond painting. These hues are naturally derived from plant sap, leaves, coloured soil, charcoal, and even cow dung.

The colour yellow is derived from the local sand called “chui mitti,” the colour brown from another type of sand called “gheru mitti,” the colour green from leaves, and the colour red from the Hibiscus flower. These paintings frequently feature colourful representations of regional flora, animals, and gods like Marahi Devi and Phulvari Devi (Goddess Kali).
